Feb 4, 2010 Whenever I see a picture of Spike as he handles that amulet, I think of this story. He was ready, he knew - so sad.

Wow, this was incredibly sad and yet one of the more honest stories I've read for this episode. I love Spike's gallows humor and the fact that he never once thinks of backing out.

Jan 2, 2004 Just about the saddest Spuffy I've read. Wonderfully written, maybe Buffy missed Spike just a little!!

Beautiful. Made me cry.
I used to be angry at Joss for not having the guts to just show us clearly what IMO he believes; that Buffy and Spike *didn't*. Oh, I'm still angry and disappointed that he never allowed their S7 relationship to finally include romantic, physical intimacy - that he didn't even allow them one friggin' kiss, but given his prohibition against physical Spuffy love, I'm no longer angry about the cut-away. Even though my gut reaction was 'PuLeeze, who are you trying to kid?' obviously there are many who don't share my bitter certainty that what I was seeing was Joss' subtle way of stomping on Spuffy. And some of those people who have far more imagination and optimism than I possess, not to mention talent, have been able to use Joss' cut-away to finish that aborted scene in ways that we who are lovers of Spuffy would have it play out in our hearts. I always say, TTFFF (Thank God For FanFic). For Spuffy, it's all that's left us.
That said, it's gratifying - painful, but gratifying just the same - to read a fic that so realistically portrays the scene in what I fear was a more likely scenario. Although I can imagine that they spent that final night once again chastely but still together in each others' arms your scenario also bears the somber ring of truth to it.
My compliments.

Dec 30, 2003 Huh. I never thought that Spike might be thinking about his demise in that shot of him studying the amulet. I like how you wrote about the Spuffy interaction without laying it on too thick.

Dec 30, 2003 | "He hopes she'll miss him a little." Just about the saddest statement about Spuffy ever written. I think you have captured the way Spike looked sitting on the cot and just staring at the amulet in "Chosen". Great job.
